Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; authorities are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they added.

City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for details.

A senior representative said the vandalism made him without words and required to be solved rapidly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
